Penny Press machines for Ferrari World

The UAE's first theme park has taken delivery of six Mk4 model penny press machines supplied by the Penny Press Factory in Scotland.

The presses, which accept both notes and coins, have been custom themed to fit with the unique styling of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

Each penny press features four images. Two are the same on all the presses and two are unique to each of the major attractions in the theme park. Visitors can make their own souvenir pressed penny of the world's fastest coaster Formula Rossa or the V12 ride which takes customers through a Ferrari engine. The designs on the coins are based on attraction logos designed in Italy especially for the Ferrari World theme park.

The Penny Press is a machine that traditionally takes a penny coin and feeds it between two steel rollers. These rollers flatten and stretch the coin into an elongated shape and imprint a unique design on it.

The process is controlled by the customer who inserts money into the machine to activate it, together with a penny coin.

They choose one of the four designs based on an attractions' own images and then rotate a steering wheel to set the rollers in motion.

When the rollers have completed their cycle, the stretched, imprinted penny drops into a collection tray.
